While this exciting idea is not yet an official plan, Ito noted the limitations of the current Dragon Engine, which has powered multiple successful titles since its inception in Yakuza 6. The Like a Dragon series, originally a spin-off of the Yakuza franchise, has gained popularity for its engaging storylines and unique gameplay. The series has continuously evolved since its debut, placing an emphasis on character-driven narratives and dynamic action. The upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, is set to be released on January 26, 2024, while an additional spin-off titled Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is also in the pipeline, both utilizing the current Dragon Engine.
