Zack Snyder's upcoming film, "Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire," will be getting a limited 70mm film release in select theaters before its Netflix debut. The limited theatrical run is set for a week from December 15 to December 21, ahead of the streaming service premiere scheduled for December 22.
The exclusive screenings will occur at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, Paris Theater in New York City, TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto, and Prince Charles Cinema in London. These limited releases are part of Netflix's strategy to qualify its films for award consideration, which often requires a week-long run in theaters.
The choice of the Paris Theater and the Egyptian Theatre is noteworthy since they are owned by Netflix, with the Egyptian undergoing renovations recently. The release of "Rebel Moon Part 1" in 70mm format is of particular interest for fans eager to experience Snyder’s new sci-fi world in high definition.
"Rebel Moon" is connected to Snyder's "Army of the Dead" universe and will have a second part, "The Scargiver," which is set to release on April 19, 2024.
