Apex Legends removes Storm Point map just two weeks after reintroduction

Respawn Entertainment has removed the Storm Point map from the rotation of Apex Legends, less than two weeks after it was reintroduced. This decision was made amid reports of technical issues players experienced while playing on this specific map.

Seasonal updates and changes in the ranked play

With the start of Split 2 in Season 28, players have the chance to climb back up the Ranked ladder. This season came with a typical mid-season update for Apex Legends, which introduced significant changes to the game. Among other things, the Legends Wraith, Gibraltar, and Wattson received substantial buffs, making them more viable in Ranked mode.

In addition to the changes to the Legends, the map pool was also adjusted for the start of Split 2. The maps Broken Moon and E-District were introduced to replace Olympus and Storm Point, while World's Edge remained in the rotation.

Issues with Storm Point

Players encountered specific problems, such as crashes while playing on Storm Point. This led to Respawn's decision to temporarily remove the map from both the Public and Ranked rotation on April 3, 2026. The developers indicated via social media that Storm Point will remain out of the game until a permanent solution for the crashes is found.

The return of Storm Point is currently unclear, as no timeline has been provided for when the map might return to the rotation.

Community reactions

Community reactions to this decision have been mixed. While some players are relieved that the problematic map has been removed in hopes of improving game stability, others are disappointed that the rotation mainly features the same maps as in Split 1. E-District has been reintroduced to the rotation, meaning Olympus is currently the only other new map available compared to Split 1.

Several players have suggested that Kings Canyon could have also been a replacement option, leading to discussions about the choices made by Respawn.

Event and future of Apex Legends

As the community waits for the return of Storm Point, Respawn has launched the Aftershock Event, which brings changes to the Wildcard mode of Apex Legends. This event introduces a Vortex Shield that allows Legends to catch and throw back enemy bullets, a feature that brings back familiar elements from Titanfall 2.

In addition to new gameplay elements, new cosmetic items are also being added, including the Apex Inferno Prestige Skin for Fuse. Although Apex Legends may not be as popular as it once was, it remains one of the most played games on platforms like Steam.

Respawn has already revealed a detailed roadmap for the upcoming year, giving players more to look forward to alongside the return of the Storm Point map.
