Call of Duty film update: premiere in 2028

The long-awaited Call of Duty film received a major update during CinemaCon 2026. It is now official that the movie will hit theaters on June 30, 2028. The live-action film currently has no title, and developers Activision and Paramount have said the name remains undecided for now.

Director and writers

The film is being directed by Peter Berg, who previously worked on movies such as Hancock (2008), Battleship (2012), and Mile 22 (2018). Berg co-wrote the script with Taylor Sheridan, best known for the hit series Yellowstone. Berg said that he and Sheridan have a strong connection to special operations forces, which allows them to portray the reality of soldiers’ lives on both a human level and through spectacular action.

Production and distribution

Call of Duty is being developed and produced by Activision in partnership with Paramount, which will also handle the film’s distribution. The movie is meant to tap into the franchise’s massive global audience, delivering the classic elements fans expect while also reaching new viewers.
