The Division 2 introduces Cherry Blossom event in April 2026 update

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment released the Year 8 Season 1.1 update for The Division 2 on April 21, 2026, bringing a number of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and the launch of a special, limited-time Cherry Blossom event. The event will run from April 21 to May 12, 2026. Cherry Blossom events are a recurring feature in The Division 2, and this year’s version is bigger than ever as the game celebrates its eighth year.

Key content in the update

The latest update introduces several new features alongside the Cherry Blossom event. It is part of a broader 2026 roadmap that includes major content such as Survivors and a possible expansion in Central Park. For the franchise’s 10th anniversary, celebrated earlier this year, Massive Entertainment also launched a major anniversary season in The Division 2, complete with a new event pass, earnable rewards, and special modifiers.

Cherry Blossom event details

The Cherry Blossom event centers on restoring 40 decorations scattered across Washington, D.C. Players will need to find these new decorations, with three new ones unlocking each day. Restoring them will trigger enemy encounters, creating unique combat situations. This includes new enemy formations, such as squads of Kitsunebi.

Defeating Kitsunebi will cause Ronin units to appear, which can be attacked by players through a specific feature known as backup request. Once players defeat enough Kitsunebi, they will face Ronin, who are known for their increased resistance and special abilities. Successful eliminations of these units reward players with special Event Keys that can be exchanged for unique cosmetic items.

New items and rewards

The event offers a total of 30 items and guarantees that players will not receive duplicates when redeeming Event Keys. Some of the exclusive items include the Kitsune Outfit, the Kintsugi Fox Mask, and the Winter Tiger Boxer outfit. Players who collect the full set will also unlock a special Lucky Cat Emote.

This update also includes gameplay improvements such as increased drop rates for Prototype items and matchmaking updates. Players can also take advantage of a temporary Resource Multiplier Event, which doubles material gains, along with triple XP rewards for Conflict matches.

As previously mentioned, Massive Entertainment is also providing a compensation cache to all players starting April 21 as thanks for their patience during unexpected maintenance. This cache includes a Prototype Core Cache and an Optimization Cache. These items will be delivered through in-game mail.

These updates and events highlight Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft’s ongoing commitment to keeping The Division 2 fresh and active, even after eight years in a growing and evolving game world.
