Indie racer Formula Legends gets official Formula E expansion

3DClouds, the developer behind the racing game Formula Legends, has announced a partnership with the FIA Formula E World Championship for a fully licensed expansion for its 2025 racer. Titled Formula E: Electric Evolution, the expansion will launch on 30 April 2026 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation, while Nintendo platforms will get it at a later, unannounced date.

Expanded lineup with Formula E

The Formula E: Electric Evolution expansion gives players the chance to race with all Formula E manufacturers, drivers and teams. That adds an authentic slice of global motorsport and brings new depth to the game. Players will also be able to race on six real Formula E circuits: Berlin, Tokyo, London, São Paulo, Miami and Shanghai. This faithful track lineup adds an important layer to the gameplay.

What the expansion includes

Alongside the circuits, players will also race in a range of car models, including GEN1, GEN2 and the new GEN3 machines. This variety in vehicle choice gives players a broader and more dynamic racing experience, focused on the different technologies and performance levels of Formula E's existing cars.

Developer expectations

Francesco Bruschi, CEO of 3DClouds, shared his excitement about the collaboration with FIA Formula E. Part of his statement read: “It is truly extraordinary to have a series as prestigious and entertaining as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in our racing game Formula Legends. It has been a fantastic challenge to integrate the drivers, teams, circuits and branding of this series. We hope players will enjoy our efforts to bring this unique motorsport to life in our game.”

The expansion looks set to be an exciting addition to Formula Legends, blending the unique appeal of Formula E with popular racing tech in the gameplay. For racing game fans, it should offer a welcome twist on the traditional formula.
