Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 in development for 2027-2028

Developer Warhorse Studios has announced that a third game in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series is in the works, and that its release may come sooner than expected. During a community stream, communications director Tobias Stolz-Zwilling confirmed that the current goal is to launch the game within the next fiscal year.

Fiscal year and release window

Warhorse Studios, which was acquired by THQ Nordic in 2019 and later became part of Embracer Group, uses a fiscal year that runs from April 1 to March 31. Warhorse’s current fiscal year is 26/27, which means the next fiscal year, 27/28, runs from April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2028. That suggests Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 could be slated for release during that period.

Development time and expectations

It appears a relatively short development cycle is ahead for the new Kingdom Come: Deliverance game, with just over three years at most if the release target holds. That would be a significant reduction compared with the seven years that passed between the first and second games in the series. However, the new timeline has raised concerns among some fans, who fear a faster release could put the game’s quality at risk.

The future of the Kingdom Come series

With Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 on the horizon, Warhorse Studios appears eager to build on the success of its predecessors. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.
