Man of Tomorrow: Maxima casting confirmed

DC Studios has found its Maxima in the form of Adria Arjona. Arjona, known for her role as Bix Caleen in the series Andor, will make her debut as the iconic supervillain in the upcoming Superman sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow, which is scheduled for release in 2027. The casting follows an extensive selection process in which Arjona reportedly beat out other actresses such as Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten.

The role of Maxima

Maxima, originally introduced in Action Comics issue 645 in 1989, is an alien and the queen of the planet Almerac. In her culture, members of the ruling family are expected to reproduce with the strongest subjects, often from another species, to strengthen their bloodline. Maxima identifies Superman as a suitable partner for her breeding plans, which puts him in a unique position in her life.

Maxima eventually transforms into a superhero and becomes a member of the Justice League. Previous portrayals include Charlotte Sullivan in Smallville and Eve Torres Gracie in Supergirl. Maxima's introduction in Man of Tomorrow gives fans a chance to learn more about her character and her evolution within the DC universe.

Main cast and release date

Alongside Adria Arjona as Maxima, David Corenswet returns as Superman, with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
