MrBeast's company sued over sexual harassment claims
The company behind MrBeast, one of the biggest YouTube channels in the world, has been sued by a former employee who has filed sexual harassment claims. Lorrayne Mavromatis, the social media executive who brought the lawsuit, alleges that she was harassed by James Warren, the former CEO of Beast Industries. She says she was demoted after filing a complaint about his behavior and eventually fired after returning from maternity leave.
Allegations against James Warren
According to Mavromatis, she was forced to attend private meetings with Warren at his home. During these meetings, he allegedly made comments about her appearance, including calling her a "beautiful woman" and saying she should be grateful that an unknown male client had approached her. Mavromatis claims her role at the company was designed so she would not work directly with MrBeast, whose real name is James "Jimmy" Donaldson, because her appearance had a "certain sexual influence" on him.
One explicit statement from Warren cited by Mavromatis reads: "Let's say that when you're around and he goes to the bathroom, he doesn't actually go to the bathroom."
Beast Industries' response
Beast Industries has strongly denied Mavromatis' claims. A company spokesperson described her allegations as "ridiculous" and "fabricated for the sole reason of making the news." "This clout-chasing complaint is built on deliberate misrepresentations and categorically false statements, and we have the evidence to prove it," said Gaude Paez, spokesperson for Beast Industries. The company, currently estimated to be worth $5 billion, employs around 500 people and produces the MrBeast YouTube channel as well as the popular Beast Games series for Prime Video.
Issue of women in the workplace
Mavromatis has also filed additional claims about being unfairly excluded from meetings in this "male-oriented workplace" and says she was insulted in front of colleagues, with comments like "shut up" being made during team discussions. In addition, she claims female Beast Games participants were mocked after complaining about the lack of feminine hygiene products during production.
Mavromatis says she previously filed a complaint in November 2023 with then-HR chief Sue Parisher, who is reportedly Donaldson's mother. At the time, the company's employee handbook, titled "How to Succeed in MrBeast Production," allegedly included advice such as: "It's okay that the boys are childish," "If talent wants to draw something stupid on the whiteboard in the video, let them do it," and "No doesn't mean no."
