First look at Sonic the Hedgehog 4 at CinemaCon 2026
Paramount has unveiled a first glimpse of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 at CinemaCon 2026, held in Las Vegas. The event is a major showcase for the film industry, where studios can present upcoming projects to a select audience.
Teaser trailer revealed
The teaser trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 mostly featured footage from the earlier Sonic films. Among the highlights was a shocking reintroduction of Jim Carrey's character, Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik, staggering out of a spacecraft. In the trailer, Robotnik also shouted: "Robotnik...saves...world!" This suggests the character, who previously made a heroic sacrifice at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, is still alive.
Even so, there is speculation that Robotnik could still end up fighting alongside Sonic and his friends, something he has done in earlier entries as well. That makes the situation even more interesting, given his history of temporary alliances.
A new chapter for the franchise
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is an exciting addition to the long-running Sonic franchise. With Robotnik returning, the story could take several different turns, including the possibility that he once again plays a villainous role. Development on the film is still being closely watched, especially given the popularity of the previous movies.
What we know about the film
Alongside Robotnik, Amy Rose also appears in the teaser, but so far she has no dialogue. That means fans still haven't heard Kristen Bell's performance as Amy. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled for release on March 19, 2027, so there is still plenty of time for more reveals about the plot and character development.
