Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse gets new images and a new release date

The long-awaited continuation of the Spider-Verse series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, has recently received new images, offering a welcome update for fans waiting on the animated film. The first four images were shown during CinemaCon on April 14, 2026, and highlight several key scenes from the movie.

About the sequel

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is the third film in the popular Spider-Verse series, which began with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The film was originally planned for release in 2024, just a year after Across the Spider-Verse launched in 2023. That kind of back-to-back release schedule is common in the film industry, but in this case it’s clear the animation production has needed more time than initially expected.

New images revealed

The newly released images offer a first look at some critical moments in the film. One image shows Miles Morales sitting on a car with his father in Brooklyn. Another depicts an intense fight scene where Spider-Man 2099 confronts Miles. There is also an image of Spider-Punk, drawing attention to a crucial moment in which Miles is told he must sacrifice his father as part of a so-called “canon event” within the film’s multiverse setup.

In addition, a fourth image shows a younger version of Miles’ father and his late uncle Aaron, which may point to flashbacks that dig deeper into their often complicated relationship.

Waiting for the release

After several delays, the current release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is set for June 18, 2027. The delay raises questions about Sony’s production capacity and its approach to making animated films. It’s clear the studio wants to take its time to deliver a movie that lives up to fans’ high expectations.
