The sequel to the successful film The Batman, directed and co-written by Matt Reeves, will partly take place in winter. Reeves revealed this in a recent social media post, where he shared behind-the-scenes images with the hashtag #SnowTires. The images include the Batmobile driving through a snowstorm, further fueling speculation about the film’s setting.

The images Reeves shared come from camera tests for The Batman: Part II. Alongside the photos of the Batmobile in the snow, Reeves also shared an image from a comic book showing Batman in the snow. The image comes from the cover of Batman (Vol. 3) #57, illustrated by Tony S. Daniel and Tomeu Morey, and published in 2018. In that comic, the hero clashes with the Russian assassin KGBeast, prompting fans to speculate about possible storylines for the new film.

Rumors about Mister Freeze

Rumors about Mister Freeze appearing in The Batman: Part II have been circulating for some time. Reeves has also previously discussed the possibility of a more grounded version of the character. In 2022, he said he believed there was a strong story to tell around Mister Freeze and his wife Nora that could resonate with audiences. The loving but tragic relationship between the two was previously explored in Batman: The Animated Series in the episode "Heart of Ice" and in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, where Arnold Schwarzenegger played the icy villain.

The Batman: Part II will begin filming later this year, with a planned release on October 1, 2027. There are also rumors that actors such as Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson could appear in the film, though it is still unclear which characters they would play.
