Joe Russo said: "If he blamed himself for Uncle Ben’s death, he would be a very different character. In our eyes, he was not responsible for his death." That marks a clear break from Spider-Man’s traditional origin, where Peter’s failure to act leads to the loss of his uncle.

Uncle Ben’s impact on the MCU

Even though Uncle Ben is never explicitly mentioned in the MCU films, the death of a parental figure remains a central theme. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, his initials are found on a suitcase, a subtle reference, but no further details are given. After Aunt May’s death in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the theme of responsibility seems to return, with her use of the iconic line: "With great power comes great responsibility." Originally attributed to Uncle Ben, the line now appears to carry new meaning for Peter.

In addition, Uncle Ben’s death is never directly addressed in the films. Still, it suggests that the MCU is taking a different route with Peter Parker’s emotional motivation, keeping Uncle Ben’s past vague without fully defining it.
