This October, Modern Warfare 4 will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 , and PC. And while looking at and sharing screenshots of the new game with other Kotaku staff, we realized that it’s really hard to tell some of these Call of Duty games apart. So let’s test you all and see how well you do at telling a Black Ops apart

It’s just the reality that these games have been chasing photorealistic visuals and characters for many years now, and when you chase the real world like that, inevitably, you end up making a lot of games that sort of look the same. Especially when many of those games are set in the modern era and involve soldiers. So let’s see how well you can tell them apart. Below are 12 screenshots from Call of Duty games. No game is repeated. Each screenshot has a hint below that you can use. I’d recommend grabbing some paper or opening up Google Docs to keep track. At the very end are all the answers.
