Assassin's Creed Nexus VR: An In-Depth Look

Ubisoft unveiled an extensive nine-minute video showcasing the upcoming Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, set to release for Quest headsets on November 16. Players will discover familiar locations and characters within the expansive Assassin's Creed franchise, along with new narratives. Notably, players will be able to carry out the actions featured in previous Assassin's Creed games. Set in three different periods of the Assassin's Creed series, players take on the roles of Ezio, Kassandra, and Connor, marking the first time the franchise offers three distinct playable characters with various mission paths.

The newly released video highlights the central role of parkour in the game. According to Creative Director David Votypka, parkour is such a fundamental part of the brand that "no compromises could be made". Players can enjoy 360-degree freedom to climb and scramble, using their own hands to perform a climb on a building. In addition to using the Hidden Blade for combat, where players press a trigger on the controller and make a wrist movement to strike where they want, there are also battles with swords and axes and blocks and attacks from enemies. Each character also possesses a ranged attack weapon.

Emphasis has been placed on a variety of options designed to prevent player motion sickness. Options such as teleportation in lieu of direct movement, auto-parkour, and even a feature for those with acrophobia have been incorporated. Assassin's Creed Nexus VR will be released on November 16 for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro.

As reaction to the announcement, one user commented, "I get sick just watching this on a flat screen. If I played this in VR, within half a minute the whole living room would be full of vomit."
