DIABLO 4 DELAYED A MONTH DUE TO MASSIVE LOOT CHANGES
Mar 21, 2024 7:35 AMDiablo IV fans are in for a bit of a wait as the massive changes envisioned for Season 4 have caused Blizzard to push back its release by a month. Season 3, titled "Season of the Construct," will now conclude on May 14 instead of the previously scheduled April 16. This extension is designed to give Blizzard time to reintroduce the Public Test Realm (PTR), allowing players to try out the new features before they go live in Season 4. The PTR will be available from April 2 to April 9, exclusively for PC players via Battle.net.
The upcoming Season 4 changes for Diablo IV are expected to dramatically shift how loot works. Blizzard aims to make item drops more meaningful by reducing the quantity of loot but enhancing the quality. Items will have fewer affixes, but those present will be more impactful to character builds. Additionally, higher World Tier drops will only yield Sacred or Ancestral items, reducing less useful drops. Consolidation of crafting materials and a cap on gold costs for enchanting are also on the cards to simplify inventory management. Unique items will become more accessible, dropping in lower World Tiers, and the Codex of Power will include all Legendary Aspects. For crafting enthusiasts, new systems such as Tempering and Masterworking are being introduced, allowing players to add affixes directly to items or upgrade them substantially.
