Double Fine's upcoming game Kiln is set to launch in April, following a successful series of closed playtests and an open beta exclusively on Steam. This multiplayer party brawler allows players to create characters in the form of pottery. After an initial concept dating back to 2017, Kiln promises a unique gameplay experience where players sculpt pots using various tools and then engage in team-based battles to extinguish opponents' kilns. The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on April 23.
What unique features does Kiln offer compared to other party brawlers?
Kiln stands out with its pottery creation mechanics, where the attributes and capabilities of each pot are influenced by how players design them. This design impacts movement speed and special abilities, allowing for diverse strategies in the 4v4 battle mode called Quench.
Kiln, from the creators of Psychonauts 2 and Brutal Legend, initially emerged from a game jam idea and has been refined over the years into a vibrant and engaging title. Players will experience battles set on maps inspired by ancient mythology, with various pathways and tactical challenges centered around the unique shapes and sizes of their crafted pots.
