Disney Dreamlight Valley Ends Early Access, Scraps Free Play Launch Plan in December

Oct 27, 2023 5:14 PM

Disney Dreamlight Valley, an adventure life-sim game by Gameloft Montreal, is set to exit Early Access on December 5, 2023, and has scrapped plans to launch as a free-to-play game. As the team aims to deliver a premium gaming experience, this shift was deemed necessary based on learnings obtained during Early Access. The game's first-ever showcase will take place on November 1 at 10am PT/1pm ET/5pm GMT, and will reveal details about A Rift in Time, the first paid expansion set to cost $29.99.

The game, inspired by Animal Crossing/The Sims and set in a Disney Universe, was initially released in Early Access on September 6, 2022. It features beloved characters from various Disney and Pixar properties, allowing users to create dream homes, gardens, undertake missions, and decorate. Different game purchase options are available, including a $39.99 base edition, $49.99 Cozy Edition, and a $69.99 Gold Edition. These editions offer varying numbers of Moonstones (in-game currency), different in-game items, in-game currencies, and more.

Disney Dreamlight Valley will be available on Nintendo Switch, and releases on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One are planned for November 10, 2023. Gamers who purchase a Founder's Edition by December 4 will receive Gold Edition cosmetic items and additional Moonstones. Disney Dreamlight Valley is lauded as a captivating life simulator, which uses its iconic characters to engaging effect.
