Epic Games announced today that it will soon require age ratings for all content created in Fortnite. Pairing up with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC), they're planning to implement "internationally-recognized age and content ratings". Each and every game or experience crafted in Fortnite, by both Epic and third-party creators, will have to contain an age rating from November 14 onwards.

Epic announced the news via their creator portal, indicating a move towards becoming more than just a battle royale game. They hope the change will help parents and players make better decisions about their gaming habits, regardless of their age.

Implementing an age rating on Fortnite Creative content won't be a difficult task. Creators will simply need to fill out an IARC content rating questionnaire. Once it's submitted and the project reviewed by Epic moderators, the content receives an age-based IARC rating and region-specific ratings, appearing automatically on the project.

Epic has requested all creators to fill in the questionnaire by November 14 for already published projects, otherwise they risk getting their content removed from the platform.

Previously released in March, Creative 2.0 expanded Fortnite's creative capabilities, introducing a wide range of customization possibilities. It's understandable that with this increased flexibility, Epic would want to ensure content created is appropriate for its broad user demographic.
