On October 19, 2023, Insomniac Games confirmed the addition of a New Game Plus mode to their much-awaited PlayStation 5 exclusive, Spider-Man 2, by the end of the year. Given the mode's popularity in previous titles, fans had been curious about its inclusion. New Game Plus allows players to replay the campaign with all the abilities unlocked from a previous playthrough. James Stevenson, Insomniac's community and marketing director, addressed inquiries on Twitter, assuring fans that the feature would be added post-launch in an update expected to drop by 2023's end.

Additionally, Insomniac also confirmed that the fast-travel hold-to-confirm prompt in Spider-Man 2 does not mask loading times, a point of speculation among players. And for those purchasing the physical version of Spider-Man 2, it's not mandatory to download its Day 1 patch for the full experience, but it is still "highly encouraged" before gameplay starts.

Our review of Spider-Man 2 highlighted its ability to refine successful combat and web-swinging mechanics without making major revolutionary changes, offering a similar but enhanced gaming experience, especially with new abilities. The only aspect needing significant improvement was the open-world of New York City, which now has a larger scale but is filled with repetitive side activities. PlayStation 5 will see the game's release on October 20.
