Team17, the British gaming company famous for indie games including 'Dredge', 'Blasphemous 2', and 'Moving Out 2', is facing another wave of layoffs, marking the second instance this year. An anonymous insider revealed these developments to the media.

Notably, the layoffs have not only affected employees but also the CEO Michael Pattison, among others. It's unclear whether the layoffs will impact Team17's development division again. However, sources hinted that the marketing department will shrink by around 20 to 30 percent.

The staff were informed through a formal letter after an emergency town hall meeting. In the meeting, Ann Hurley, the new in-charge after the stepping down of Michael Pattison, affirmed the strong growth of Team17 despite facing one of the most competitive years in the gaming industry.

The layoffs follow a trend from earlier in the year when Team17 also cut jobs in its development side in what the company referred to as "realignment." The consultation period will reportedly extend until November 2023, post which, the proposed job cuts will take effect.
