Next Zelda not a sequel to Tears of the Kingdom

Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the Zelda series, has indicated that while Tears of the Kingdom built upon the world established in Breath of the Wild, it represents the 'final form' of this version of Zelda, and the team does not plan to create another direct sequel in this setting. Additional details about the upcoming Zelda game remain undisclosed and with Tears of the Kingdom having been released earlier this year, the new game may take several years before any reveals. It is speculated that the new title could launch on the successor to the Nintendo Switch platform. Meanwhile, Nintendo is also developing a live-action adaptation of the Zelda series.
