The PlayStation 4 edition of Red Dead Redemption recently received an update that allows the game to be played at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5. This surprise enhancement came with update 1.03 released by Rockstar Games, initially intended to fix a few bugs and improve performance. However, it was soon discovered that the update enables the game to run at 60 fps on PS5 through backward compatibility.

The game, which was originally launched in 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, can only be played at 30 fps on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. In August, the digital version of Red Dead Redemption became available on PS4 and Switch, and a physical copy will be released on October 13th.
