Rumor: Far Cry Multiplayer Game is an Extraction Shooter

Oct 23, 2023 10:33 AM

Rumors suggest that Ubisoft is potentially working on a multiplayer game within the Far Cry franchise, according to information reportedly obtained by Insider Gaming. This game, understood to be named Project Maverick, is expected to be an extraction-shooter. Players allegedly drop into a fictional location, Alashnica, reminiscent of Alaska, where they must gather materials to survive. In this setting, players would need to take on contracts and perform tasks to level up, fighting off enemies to craft items, and discovering parts used for weapon assembly.

The game would also feature a home base known as a 'Hideout' for storing weapons and items safely. Failure to return to the base in time may result in players losing everything in their possession. Insider Gaming suggests that the game is multiplayer-enabled, and solo play could also be an option. Strategically, the Far Cry multiplayer game is anticipated to be released before Far Cry 7, with insiders hinting at a possible internal launch date in April 2025.

However, it's important to note that both games are still unofficial and have not been formally announced. Michel Musters, who has been part of the Gamer.nl editorial team since 2007, reported this news.
