The popular racing video game Gran Turismo Sport, which requires an online connection, will be disconnecting its online services. This was confirmed by the game's developer, Polyphony Digital, who stated this change will take effect from January 31, 2024. It was also revealed that all downloadable content (DLC) for the game will be de-listed before December 1 this year. Players should note that once the online services are shut down, they will be unable to use features such as Community, Open Lobby, and Sport Mode, or access custom liveries. Though the game's offline components and purchased Add-Ons can still be played, how game progress will be saved remains unclear. Adding to this, certain trophies requiring online connections will also be inaccessible, which could be frustrating for those who aim to complete the game fully. However, any DLC previously purchased can still be downloaded once the online services are shut down. Gran Turismo Sport was first released in 2017 and received largely favourable reviews, although some players expressed dissatisfaction over the game's requirement of an internet connection.
