Warner Bros. Games has recently unveiled plans for a Mortal Kombat 1 console beta. Running from August 18 to August 21, the beta will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Notably, there won't be any beta testing for the PC and Nintendo Switch platforms.

Beta testers will have access to the 1v1 online multiplayer mode, as well as a portion of the single-player mode, Klassic Tower, which includes battles against AI opponents. A number of characters, "kameos," and arenas will be present in the beta. These include fighters such as Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Li Mei, kameos like Kano, Sonya, Jax, and Frost, and stages like The Teahouse & Johnny Cage's Mansion.

To gain access to this beta testing, one must pre-order any version of Mortal Kombat 1, whether it's a physical or a digital copy. Those who participated in the Online Stress Test, however, will not automatically get access to this trial period. Warner Bros. also clarified that there won't be a cross-play function in the beta, and a consistent internet connection is required throughout the testing. Furthermore, either a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription is mandatory for the test phase.
